The World Wide WebWith the way Google works these days, engaging with your audience is really important and it’s measured by how long they stay on your site. What’s more, it’s a major factor as to how Google will rank your site in the future.

Ultimately, Google’s only goal is to deliver what their customers want and it’s important to understand that their customers aren’t their advertisers.  Google’s customers – the ones that count for everything they do – are the people that use the Google Search facility.

As such, when Google sends a visitor to your site, what they do is critical.  That visitor asked Google a question and Google sent them to you for the answer.  If they leave your site very quickly, Google will assume that they didn’t get the answer they were looking for and, if that pattern gets repeated with more visitors, guess what?

Google stops sending them!

On the other hand, if the visitor stays on your site for a while and visits a few other pages, you’re deemed to be engaging with your audience and the assumption is that they did get the answer they were looking for.  When that pattern gets repeated,  Google will send you more visitors.

The obvious question, then, is;

How do you make sure that you’re engaging with your audience and getting people to stay on your site longer?

That’s a great question with a simple answer.

Use Video!

Get Started with Video Marketing - A Video Camera LensStatistically, 3 out of every 4 visitors to your webpage would rather watch a video than read text, which probably accounts for the fact that, whilst the average time a visitor spends on a standard web page is 50 seconds.  Add video to that page and that average increases, exponentially, to almost 360 seconds – That’s an increase of more than 700%, which is incredible.

And there are many other benefits that come with using video.

Of course, there are other elements that can effect visitor engagement but if you want to use video on your website and don’t know where to start, click here, where you can find out more about VideoGPS.

This is a very special day where Mark Edmunds and I will walk a small and select group of people through their first steps with video, teaching them how to craft an engaging script, how to present, effectively, to camera and how to keep control of those nerves.

More importantly, they’ll get to work with a green screen and teleprompter and will come away with their first, professionally produced video to get their Video Marketing ball rolling.
